Pat Pilchard's.
artwork is digital printing. Her subject matter is primarily flowers and plants.
She treats her work both as portraits and as beautiful images. "I enjoy their personalities and
variety. To me they are amazing, from seed to withered plant. As I take walks, some plants
call out to me and they become my works of art."
The images start out as scanned files which are put into the software program, Photoshop. Pat
can then manipulate a file to combine images from other files, change or modify colors,
isolate parts of an image and just work on those sections, etc. The final file is then printed with an ink jet
printer using archival paper. The images are printed in various sizes on paper up to
17" by 40".
"I am now exploring making collages from torn pieces of my printed images. I like the
tactile look of an actual torn edge. I will also start making prints on paper 17" by 40"."
Pat's background includes many years as a graphic designer and artist. She received a B.S. degree from
the University of Georgia with a major in Graphic Design. As a result, her artwork
has a strong design quality about it.
