With mountain roots carried from South America,
Carlos Robledo has found fertile soil and inspiration in the blue hills and
mountains of the Appalachian Highlands. Residing and working in Boone, NC
for over 30 years, Carlos' work reflects his love of nature and the subtle
beauty of the lush Carolina earth. Carlos' practical philosophy and mastery
of the high fire stoneware has produced a wide variety of everyday and fine
art pieces.
His work appears in galleries throughout the region and he has a demanding
wholesale business built from many years of trade shows. Carlos' nature motifs;
combined with challenging glazes, have produced a line of work that brings
satisfaction to both the artist and his clients. " I chose these difficult
glazes because they best reflect the subtle beauty I have found in these Blue
Mountains and keep me alert even after so many years." The constant interplay
of the technical demands of production, with the dramatic beauty of the region
has "kept me fresh and eager to get to work and see what can happen in the shop."
